LEVEL ONE: Foundations

The first step on the path toward becoming a yoga teacher or simply deepening your practice, Level One provides the tools to create inspiring vinyasa yoga classes grounded in proper alignment and the safety of exercise science.

While there are no prerequisites for this course, we do require that all attendees read Beth Shaw's YogaFit prior to attending. This book explains the foundation of our entire teacher training program, and allows for better overall understanding of the material covered in our Level One Training. Please email edu@yogafit.com with any questions about Level One!.  We look forward to seeing you on the mat.

Note: In order to receive a Certificate of Completion for Level One, you must also complete eight hours of practice teaching as a community service, in which you bring the gift of yoga, free of charge, to individuals who would not normally be exposed to yoga on a regular basis.

Upon completion of the Level One training and Community Service hours, click here for instructions regarding obtaining your certificate.

You have one year from the date of your Level 1 Training to complete Community Service and apply for your Level 1 Certificate. We do understand that sometimes life events interfere with our plans. Please email certs@yogafit.com if you find that you may need an extension for completion.

Retrain: Please call Customer Service at 1-888-786-3111 to register for retrains of Level 1.  The retrain price is $199.

Note: All participants are required to complete the Brief Strengths Test, authentichappiness.org, print individual results, and bring these results to the training.

This four‐day intensive introduces the Yoga Sutra, the Bhagavad Gita, and some of the more esoteric elements of yoga, like the chakras, mudras (hand gestures), and sound.

YogaFit Restorative

YogaFit’s four-day Restorative workshop is essential for the yoga therapist to understand how to introduce the profoundly soothing effects of this restful practice to clients and students. Using props to completely support the body, restorative yoga creates passive poses that induce a deep state of relaxation, awaken dull areas of the body, and encourage the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

Note: This course fulfills part of the requirements for the YogaFit HealthCare 900-hour certification, as well as the YogaFit 300‐hour teacher training. The one-day YogaFit Props training is part of this four-day workshop. However, please note that you will NOT receive a separate Props Certificate when registered for the four day Restorative Training.  To receive a Props certificate, it must be taken as a one day training at a different time.

Yoga as Primary Care 12:00 PM - 08:00 PM
Yoga as Primary Care

Primary care medical providers (PCPs) are generally the first experts people contact when they get sick. A PCP functions both as an educator and a guide to help patients find solutions to their health challenges. Unfortunately, too often conventional docs focus more on presenting the solutions than empowering their patients. Introducing yoga into the current primary care medical practices has the potential to create a shift in our healthcare system toward such empowerment. Healthcare professionals, as well as the yoga instructors and yoga therapists, will benefit from this one-day intensive training.

Thai yoga, a hands-on therapeutic technique, combines acupressure, gentle rhythmic massage, deep stretching, and gentle twisting to create a deeply meditative healing experience. In this one-day workshop, you’ll not only learn how to offer these techniques to your students and clients, but you’ll get to experience them yourself.

YogaFit for WarriorKids (Childhood Trauma)

With a focus on “developmental trauma disorder,” a new and vastly expanded tool for understanding early childhood trauma, this special therapeutically oriented workshop centers on the unique way a child’s nervous system and brain respond to traumatic events, including chronic emotional and physical abuse and neglect. We will address somatic gaps in current therapies available and the challenges inherent in treating children suffering from PTSD.

Note: YogaFit for WarriorKids counts as an elective for either the 200-hour or the 300-hour training, but not both. This two-day workshop also counts toward YogaFit’s 100-hour and 140-hour YogaFit for Warriors certification; the 100-hour YogaFit for WarriorKids certification; and YogaFit’s 900-hour YogaFit HealthCare certification.
