YogaFit For Warriors To Be First Yoga Program Approved By GI Bill And MyCAA
March 31, 2014, LOS ANGELES – The highly anticipated 1000 hour YogaFit Yoga Therapy Program has finished development, and is now accepting applicants! The program has applied for International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) accreditation as of January 2014. The announcement of the school's receiving accreditation will be announced at the 2014 Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research in June 2014.
The YogaFit Therapy program draws from the rich traditions of ancient yoga and integrates them with cutting-edge evidence based on science to create a unique training program for educating and training Yoga Therapists. YogaFit's ecumenical user-friendly approach to training yoga teachers offer an empowering holistic program with a broad knowledge base and prepares the current yoga teacher and/or health care practitioner to work with a wide variety of health concerns safely and effectively. As the largest Yoga Teacher training school in North America, YogaFit is uniquely poised to prepare yoga therapists to work with clients/students of all ages and abilities in creating a positive healing environment for the body, mind and spirit.
This program has been developed to meet the needs of Yoga teachers wishing to extend their scope of practice to become a Yoga Therapist, which in turn will enable teachers to provide professional, well qualified therapeutic yoga treatment and advice to the broader community.
The YogaFit Yoga Therapy Program is delivered in non-residential, distant, online and self- directed components in order to achieve the full qualification of standards and competencies. The program consists of 606 Contact hours and 394 non-contact hours, for a total of 1000 hours. The 1000 hours include the 163-hour practicum. All required courses and hours must be completed successfully to acquire program completion.
As a standards-based process, IAYT accreditation provides a consistent benchmark against which yoga therapy training programs can be evaluated. Accreditation is a means of ensuring quality control and promoting continuous improvement. The IAYT developed an accreditation program to serve: the public by developing a set of educational standards intended to promote safe and effective practice; the yoga therapy practitioner and educator communities by promoting a stronger and more well-defined professional identity for the field; and yoga therapy students by establishing standards and policies designed to ensure access to quality training programs.
YogaFit is excited to begin offering a 1000 hour certification program accredited by the IAYT. Members of the YogaFit community have long waited for an opportunity to become Yoga Therapists, and the much-anticipated program will further expand YogaFit's global network of trainers.
