Beth and I connected at the Minnesota Mind Body Fitness Conference in June and we discussed what I wanted in my life— I said: health. A few days later she sent me a copy of YogaLean. I started the YogaLean program on July 7th. I loved the Jumpstart program. I would pick recipes and plan my week, at times tweaking things to fit my lifestyle and being a single mother of an 18 month old.

 

I knew my world was cluttered in so many ways. I am a teacher, so for the month of July I cleared space and got rid of so much stuff. I donated what I could to a battered woman's shelter and hauled a load to recycling.

In the midst of this I realized that my 18 year old cat was nearing the end of her life and had lost her joy. I made the hard choice to put her to sleep which before YogaLean would have sent me into an eating frenzy. But instead I focused on my meditation, yoga and cardio. I mourned my loss and allowed myself to feel the pain instead of try and eat it away.

 

Cardio became my balance. I work a very high stress job with teens kicked out of school for aggression or severe mental illness. I used to run every morning at 5am before my daughter was born. had only run once since she arrived. I started out running 60 seconds walking for 90 seconds for twenty minutes and then walking another 40 seconds. By mid-August I was running 30 minutes and speed walking for another 30 minutes six days a week.

 

“I have lost 25 pounds and 26 inches since July 7th.”

 

Since I have been back to school I run right after work before I pick my daughter up for 40 minutes four days a week and do my 30/30 run speed walk both days on the weekend. I used my 30 pound daughter for weight and did lots of playing with her to do squats, bench presses etc.

 

I have lost 25 pounds and 26 inches since July 7 and plan on losing 25 more by my birthday in February to reach my goal. My blood pressure is normal for the first time in 15 years and I am off the meds I was on for it. I feel better than I have in years and am wearing size 12 and some size 10 clothes that I have had in my closet for years. One of my students said "damn you look skinny Ms. Olson" on the first day of school—made my year!

 

I have about 20 friends who have now joined the YogaLean team. They are reading the book and transforming their lives. I am grateful beyond words for Beth and for helping me change my life in so many ways.
