KAREN'S STORY - IN HER OWN WORDS
What brought you to your mat?
After surgery, radiation and chemotherapy for colon cancer I was weak and lacked energy. I thought yoga would be a good way to gain back strength, I was thinking of physical strength and found that I also strengthened mind and spirit. I first came to my mat for asana, I stay on my mat because of all eight limbs of yoga.
How did you discover YogaFit?
I was fortunate that my yoga teacher, Donna (who is now a YogaFit® Master Trainer) was YogaFit® trained. Donna was and still is a great inspiration for me.
What made you decide to choose YogaFit as part of your yoga journey?
Donna saw how much I loved yoga and encouraged me to take Level I with YogaFit®. I chose to continue with YogaFit® because I like being able to take a class or two and go back home and incorporate that knowledge into my classes. When I’m ready, I sign up for more classes, order the books, and prepare for the classes so I can get the most out of them. YogaFit® instructors are not only knowledgeable, they have a passion for the classes they teach, and they have a good sense of humor.
What is your favorite YogaFIt® memory so far?
My first Mind Body Fitness Conference. Being with that many like minded people the energy was amazing.
Why was Therapy II your favorite YogaFit® training?
Although it was difficult to pick just one favorite, I chose Therapy II. Learning about and working with the subtle body fascinates me. Using oils, crystals, mudras, mantras, and intentions to invite health and balance into our lives is awesome. It is interesting to see how science is beginning to prove what yogis have known for centuries.

What has been the impact of Yoga Teacher Training in your life and the lives of those you teach?
YogaFit® training has given me a huge box of tools to use to take care of my body, mind and spirit. It has helped me find peace in the midst of chaos. When I’m feeling unbalanced physically or emotionally, I am now able to look for the source of my dis-ease and work with it. I bring my passion for yoga to every class I teach. Teaching from the heart, sharing my tools, I hope to help as many people as possible find health and happiness.
When you look forward, what does your yoga journey look like?
Having recently earned my 500 hour certification, I plan to continue working towards certification in yoga therapy. Thank you Kristy for the inspiration. I will be taking many more YogaFit® classes, growing and sharing.
