Meet Master Trainer: Joy Keller
We asked Joy a few questions so you can get to know her better. Joy will be leading Level Five: Unification in Regina February 4-5 and Healthcare 1: Assessing the Physical Body in Toronto February 23-26.
What's your favourite yoga pose and why?
Child's Pose. It's a pose of surrender, of letting go.
If you could have any super power which one would it be?
I'd love to be able to fly.
What are your morning must-haves?
Green Juice, hitting the gym to workout and a lovely yoga practice.
Do you have a hidden talent that only your close friends/family know of?
My love of baking but not sure how hidden that is.
In your own words:
How did you discover YogaFit?
The fitness facility where I worked out needed a yoga instructor and asked if I'd teach. They recommended YogaFit.
What influenced your decision to become a YogaFit Master Trainer?
My mother in law passed away from cancer at a young age. She never felt well enough to exercise but I firmly believe that yoga could have made a difference for her. So spreading this gift of yoga to others is dear to my heart.
What is your favourite YogaFit memory?
Each closing share circle I'm in at the end of a training when faces are glowing from forming new friendships, from falling more in love with yoga and the personal growth that's taken place. That's definitely my favourite moment.
What has been the impact of your yoga teacher training in your life and in the lives of those you teach?
I was desperately searching for a way to create balance in my life. The years of living with stress had ravaged my health. Yoga has brought health to my life on every level, emotionally, mentally and physically. I see my students equipped through their yoga practice to make healthier choices, to live a more balanced lifestyle.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their yoga journey?
It's not about the poses. The poses are just a vehicle that help you to go inside and listen to that inner voice. Once you have awareness then have the courage to change what needs changing and accept what needs acceptance.
