We asked YogaFit Alumni Shawn Flaman a few questions to learn a little bit more about her and her yoga journey. Did you know that Shawn has hosted several YogaFit trainings at her studio Your Yoga Winnipeg for over a year?


What's Your Day Job? 

I own 2 businesses - a yoga studio and I am also a corporate leadership consultant and trainer.

Which city do you live in?


Your Morning Must-Haves?

Hot lemon water, Musli green tea

Your Favourite YogaFit Training? 

Hard to pick..... YogaFit Healthcare 2: Examing the Subtle Body is up there though.

The Title of Your Biography?  

She learned lessons everyday 

Why YogaFit?

Great program that follows a true learning format.  As a trainer it was important that the training followed a formal learning structure.  Many may not know it but I appreciated this fact.  Also, you have the opportunity to learn from experts in different fields. 

What brought you to your mat?

I have been a fitness instructor and runner for years.  Yoga was a complement to all that yang activity.

How did you discover YogaFit?

Through Goodlife.

What made you decide to choose YogaFit as part of your yoga journey?

The trainers, the friends.

What is your favourite YogaFit memory so far?  

The Scottsdale MBF - went with 2 other Winnipeg yoga friends- I also completed my 200 hours there!

Why was YogaFit Healthcare 2: Examining the Subtle Body your favourite YogaFit training?

I was at a vulnerable point in my life - the people in the training and the trainer were just what I needed to heal my soul.  The info in the training was the icing on the cake.


What has been the impact of your yoga teacher training in your life and in the lives of those you teach?

Awareness.  Awareness of thoughts, awareness of my body, awareness of my spirituality.  I know the same is true for many of my students.

When you look forward, what does your yoga journey look like?

Continuum. It is an ongoing journey. My goal is to spread the love that is yoga.  I want to delve more into Bhakti yoga.


What is one of your favourite, go-to cues you use to teach your students?

Letting go of judgement, competition and expectation - of yourself and others.  EVERY CLASS!
