Your Teaching Philosophy
"What makes us miserable? The cause of the miseries from which we suffer is selfish desire. You desire something for yourself, and when the desire is not fulfilled, the result is distress. If there is no selfish desire, there is no suffering." My teaching philosophy follows these words from the book, "The Pathways to Joy." Holding on to knowledge and tools that can help my family, friends and community is selfish. I openly teach classes, workshops and YogaFit trainings because I have an unquenchable curiosity about the world around me and it is selfish to keep the information I find for myself. I love to teach and spark curiosity in others. I teach a safe and responsible Vinyasa style of Yoga that is accessible to every one and every body. If you have an open heart and an open mind, then prepare for Yoga to change you in a remarkable way!
Favorite YogaFit Memory
My most memorable moment teaching a YogaFit training was my last apprenticeship training. I was blessed to lead a majority of the training and made a deep connection with the group in Harrisonburg, VA (4/25/15-4/26/15). At the end of the training during our final share circle, I was brought to tears because of how close the group had become in those moments together and because I knew my daughter was going to journey out to a world full of love, compassion and grace. In the midst of all of the negative of our world, YogaFit is promoting love through Yoga education.
My happy place is with my family. My fiance, Jordan, and daughter, Riley, are where I find peace. They light up my life and afford me the unconditional love that any human being would ask for. Whether is it singing in the car, curled up watching a movie, practicing Yoga in the living room or bath time, my heart just swells.
