NEW Ayurveda One-Day Workshop at the New Brunswick, NJ MBF!
Join us for an outstanding workshop lead by Ayurveda and yoga expert Felicia Marie Tamasko, RN and ERYT 500. This one-day workshop provides an introduction to the concepts of Ayurveda as they apply to the practice and teaching of yoga.
Ayurveda, which means the science of life in Sanskrit, is an ancient system that teaches us how to find balance amidst the hurried nature of everyday life. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga, and uses a similar world-view and anatomy and physiology to help us modify our practice for different times in our life to help support maximum health and overall well-being.
This combination of lecture, discussion and practice will give hands-on understanding of how the theory of Ayurveda is relevant to yoga.
Some of the topics that will be covered include:
• How energetic qualities relate to our physical, mental,
and emotional bodies.
• How to use our practice to get more grounded and
have more energy.
• How to adjust a practice for the time of day, time of the year,
and time in our lives.
• What makes an early morning practice different from a late
night one and how to modify.

Experience the many facets of meditation and its healing power. Learn essential techniques to deepen your meditation practice and share with your students. This workshop will explore the physical health benefits of meditation, the effect meditation has on the mind and brain and will also discuss the thought patterns of a mind that has practiced meditation, and one that has not.
Anand brings the ancient wisdom of India and translates it to apply to our every day living. A great opportunity to ask questions, learn guided meditations and understand
the deeper
meaning of meditation.
Begin the day with Anand as he leads you through a Sattva Yoga Master Class. The Sattva Yoga style originated in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, by Anand and brings a deep wisdom layer to our daily yoga practice. Anand will guide you through breath, flow and dynamic kriyas that will awaken your heart center and move you into a state of freedom. Be one of the few to experience a Sattva Yoga Master Class lead by Anand as he has taught in Rishikesh, India for years.
Anand Mehrotra, founder of Sattva Yoga, was born in Rishikesh, India, the town where yoga is said to have originated over 5,000 years ago. Anand spent most of his life learning from many of the great sages and yogis in India. He was destined to be a teacher from an early age and began teaching at 16 years. He studied under many Masters in the Himalayas and was initiated into several different yogic paths including Kriya, Sivananda, Shakti Tantra, and Raja Yoga. He also studied Vedic Astrology and has since traveled the world doing astrology readings and giving lectures.
People are moved by his youthful energy and his powerful message. His teachings work toward dissolving the ego and the false belief systems that hold us back and expanding into an aware and liberated state of existence. The method is an inclusive approach to the lifestyles of today and about inviting higher understandings into all facets of life. The vision of the teachings is to inspire a conscious awareness into the modern-everyday world.
DAMARU drum music will be performing at the New Brunswick MBF!
DAMARU's music has deep bows to the African, Latin American and Indian
classical traditions as well as the natural western influences of rock and
jazz.
One of DAMARU's favorite ways to perform is in discovering the vast
potential of yoga and live music. They create an integral flow that is
sensitive to the pace led by the yoga instructor and becomes an intimate
part of the participants practice. Ranging from vigorous rhythms that give
energy and focus to the asanas, to meditative alaps that deepen listening
and calmness in meditation and shivasana.
They will perform on Sat. 9/19 at the reception and will
also
be playing 30 minutes in Level 4 and then 30 minutes in
Level 5 that
afternoon.
NEW! YogaFit for Personal Trainers
This program was developed to help personal trainers incorporate yoga into their one-on-one sessions. Trainers can use yoga postures as their primary training method, or just incorporate it into the beginning and/or end of their weight training session. Finally, and not to be underestimated, trainers can incorporate YogaFit's Transformational Language into the work with their clients to encourage and motivate clients through positive/affirmative language that incorporates awareness and process orientation.
During this training, you will learn:
1. Foundational safety alignment principles (SPA) for yoga, drawn from exercise science while preserving the effectiveness of traditional poses.
2. Precise alignment for the most effective and widely used 38 basic postures of yoga.
3. Transformational Language for motivation and mind-body awareness
4. To assess your client's need for postures based on range of motion (ROM), postural assessment, and muscle balance, using a technique we call Asana Practice Screen (APS).
5. Learn how you might incorporate foundational standing poses/asanas as a base strength stance for the legs, while using weights for the upper body, for a super-efficient strength training methodology. (ie: Warrior 1 stance with bicep curls).
6. The importance of breath and relaxation for stress reduction for overall health, and how to incorporate breath effectively into all sessions.

Certification: A “Certificate of Completion” will be presented at the end of Day 2 of the teacher training.
Prerequisites: Although not required, the Level 1 Teacher Training is highly recommended.
