Types of Yoga
A variety of different types of yoga have grown in popularity over the past several years, and people now have a range of options when visiting a yoga studio. Vinyasa yoga provides a flowing, almost dance-like progression for students who are interested in a moderately challenging practice. Ashtanga has grown in appeal for those who are seeking "power yoga" workouts. Ashtanga classes put high physical demands on students with the goals of improved circulation and purity of mind and body. Bikram yoga takes many of the forms and practices from classic Hatha yoga, but places students in a heated room to allow for deeper stretching.
Those traditional types of yoga and the variations on them provide a range of benefits for those who practice them regularly. However, they are not designed for the typical member of a health club who is interested in losing weight or simply getting healthier. Both Ashtanga and Bikram can create high levels of stress on students either through physical exertion or prolonged exposure to heat. While Vinyasa is a bit easier on the body, it is not conducive to people of all body types or fitness levels. At YogaFit, we have drawn on traditional types of yoga and combined the standard poses and incorporated them into a fitness program that utilizes the most effective aspects of modern exercise science. In essence, we have created a hybrid style that allows everyone to enjoy the benefits of yoga. We are recognized and recommended by ACE and the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance. We offer training and multiple certification tracks for instructors throughout the world.
