By Shaye Molendyke, Director of YogaFit For Warriors Program

I am proud to announce that since the launch of the Warriors Program this past July, the Warriors Program has trained over 300 of our beloved students in more effective ways to truly help and start the real healing of trauma which we now know resides within the body and the nervous system.  The methods we teach in Warriors as well as Healing Emotional and Physical Trauma are the cornerstones for activating the innate physician that resides within all of us. In case you haven’t heard, you can take Warriors in lieu of the Level1 retrain OR two of the other One Day Workshops (not Seniors, Prenatal/Kids) required for your 200 hour RYT. Also, The Warriors Program counts towards your 500 hour RYT or your Therapy hours if you are interested in applying to our Therapy Program launching this spring! Please feel free to email me with questions at warrior@yoagfit.com.

In addition to launching Warriors, I have been coordinating with agencies that work with and support our veterans and their families. There are some wonderful new opportunities on the horizon to include linkages with Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) as well as Delta and the USO to bring yoga that heals directly to the people who need it most. If you are interested in learning more about it and will be attending the Alexandria Mind Body Fitness Conference, please plan on attending the Saturday night WWP benefit class (open to any local military and their families, please RSVP to jenny@yoagfit.com) where we will have a WWP representative in attendance to discuss some of the ways you can help those with PTSD. Also, I will share our new endeavors. If you have already completed the Warriors 100 Hr RYT Program or will this coming year, please email me at warrior@yoagfit.com to get your name added to a resource directory that we plan on sending to WWP and Delta/USO to let our veterans know who they can contact in their area to get help. Also, WWP is contracting with yoga teachers in certain areas to pay for yoga teachers to teach to military so there is an opportunity to start putting your knowledge to good use!

Namaste,

Shaye

Shaye, an avid runner, started practicing Yoga in 1998 after her IT band pulled completely out from her knee during a long run and immediately stopped her in her tracks. An officer in the US Air Force, Shaye completed her 200 RYT in 2006 and has since been honored to teach to mostly a military population. The Yoga path continues for Shaye with the completion of her Masters in Counseling and joining of the YogaFit family of Trainers. Shaye believes the peaceful future of our world lies with children and brings the message of Yoga weekly to children in her kid's school. She feels strongly that through YogaFit's message of Yoga is for everybody and every BODY, that it can become as common-place in people's daily lives as brushing their teeth!
