YogaFit Community Service and Charities
The President's Challenge
In support of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation, the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition is challenging Americans of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to achieve their PALA. PALA requires youth participants, ages 6-17, to engage in physical activity for 60 minutes, five days per week, for six out of eight weeks. Adults should participate in 30 minutes of physical activity for the same duration. All participants who complete the requirements will receive a PALA certificate of achievement signed by the co-chairs of the President's Council, Drew Brees and Dominique Dawes.

1 Million Dollar Donations
$1 million of yoga is being donated to non-profit organizations by values-based entrepreneur, Beth Shaw of YogaFit, the leader in Mind Body Fitness education. We have trained and certified over 200,000 yoga instructors on six continents and is the largest yoga school in the world.
Throughout 2011, 2,500 gift certificates for Level One training at YogaFit's Mind Body Fitness Conferences ($399 value) will be given to eligible non-profit groups. This training enables yoga enthusiasts to deepen their practice or begin instructor training. Most charities will use these certificates to raise money in their silent auctions.
"We are pleased that YogaFit is able to assist charities in raising funds to continue their essential efforts. The world and the people in it benefit from more people practicing yoga more frequently," expressed Beth.
Interested non-profit organizations should submit their request to assist@yogafit.com.
This donation is in line with Beth's personal belief system. She is known for her community service initiatives. As an animal rights activist, Shaw serves on the National Council for the Humane Society and is involved in Animal Alliance, Downtown Dog Rescue and sits on the board of Social Compassion in Legislature. Her nonprofit organization, Visionary Women in Fitness, awards scholarships and grants women in need. The YogaFit network has also given over one million hours of community service.

Animal News:
Last summer, Paris Hilton brought home a new Chihuahua and Britney
Spears a Yorkie -- both purchased from Pets of Bel Air, L.A.'s
pet boutique to the stars. At Pets of Bel Air, staff members
perfume and coif their tiny puppies for sale, creating an
illusion of perfection. That illusion fooled Paris, Britney,
and many others -- showing that even the rich and famous
believe what pet store clerks tell them about the puppies
they sell.
Watch our exclusive undercover video exposing the dirty secret behind the puppies
sold by Pets of Bel Air. Click here: https://community.hsus.org/campaign/stoppuppymills_poba/wgxuuki4r7nk5357?
The HSUS's undercover investigation revealed that many of the puppies sold
at Pets of Bel Air come from puppy mills in the Midwest including Arkansas,
Kansas, and Oklahoma. At these large-scale factory farm operations, we found
hundreds of breeding dogs living in barren wire cages where they are treated
like production machines. Some had untreated injuries, were pacing frantically,
and were housed in overcrowded cages that reeked of urine.
Each mother dog at these mills is sentenced to a miserable life in a cage so
her puppies can be sold at pet stores across the country. In addition to the
lifetime of neglect their parents will suffer, the puppies are also much more
vulnerable to illnesses and disease due to the conditions in which they were
born -- with many falling ill or dying within days or weeks of purchase.
As we celebrate compassion this holiday season, many people
will unwittingly support this cruel and inhumane industry
when they purchase a puppy from a pet store. Pets of
Bel Air is just one of thousands of retail stores and
Internet sites that sell puppy mill puppies -- and
that's why we need your help. Click here to watch the
video:

After you watch our video exposing the truth about the puppies sold by Pets
of Bel Air, please share it with your friends and sign the pledge to stop puppy
mills. Animal shelters and breed rescue groups are the best sources for dogs
-- not pet stores or Internet sites.
Yesterday, as a result of our investigation, local authorities shut down Pets
of Bel Air for failing to secure the proper permits.
Thank you for all that you do to help animals.
Sincerely,
Wayne Pacelle

YogaFit Fundraiser! We are looking to raise $300,000 for the
Kushi Charitable Society!
“Khushi” – in
Hindi means ‘joy’. Our name represents our goal as well as our methods.
The aim of the Khushi Projects is to develop local educational programs
and in doing so to provide better opportunities for underprivileged children
and make their experience of this world a joyous one.
Khushi is a hands-on project. They are constantly striving to achieve the betterment
of their children by:
•Improving their formal education
•Improving their physical well-being
•Nurturing their natural creative abilities
•Providing vocational training
•Raising awareness for different issues and struggles in daily life
Khushi Charitable Society is a registered, independent, 100% volunteer
based charity organization in India. It is headed by Anand Mehrotra and Madelein
Mishra/Broekman. It is now being helped by local volunteers as well.
It is a grass roots organization which aims to provide the most disadvantaged
children with education, supplemental nutrition and medical assistance. In
doing so we strive to improve the quality of life for those highly vulnerable
children. Today, the Khushi project supports hundreds of children
with this grass root project funded 100% by donations. It is constantly working
to grow the number of kids it can support.
Their aim is not only to look after the physical well being and education of
the kids but also their consciousness. They want to raise their awareness so
that they can not only heal themselves but also their families and society
and be pillars of awareness for our world.
