YogaFit® Yoga Therapy

Designed by a Physical Therapist and YogaFit Master Trainer, this four-day therapeutic training teaches instructors how to confidently assess postural and muscular imbalances in their students and to then effectively provide modifications and asana prescriptions. This training is ideal for experienced yoga teachers, body workers and licensed health care professionals who wish to adapt and apply yoga techniques and practices to help individuals manage their condition and restore balance and vitality.

Scope of this course:

1. Overview of Yoga Therapy: Scope of Practice, Current Guidelines.


2. Body Reading with Postural analysis and stability/flexibility assessment.


3. Identification of common postural dysfunction and yoga asana prescription to address muscular imbalances.


4. Movement assessment to identify movement impairments and recommended asana prescriptions as well as therapeutic yoga exercise recommendations.


5. Use of basic self Myofascial release techniques and body rolling to address Myofascial dysfunction.


6. Training in assists by instructor and student self assists to enhance yoga postures.


7. Guidelines on how to design and set up the curriculum for a 6 week group therapeutic yoga class.

Master classes will conducted each day with demonstrations of adjustments and assists with restorative postures interspersed within each class. Each master class will include pranayama and meditation techniques which foster healing.

Certification:
A Certificate of Completion will be presented at the end of Day 4 of the Yoga Therapy training.

Prerequisites:
YogaFit's Anatomy and Alignment, training and/or open to any licensed health care professional. This includes, but is not limited to, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, PTA's, COTA's, ATC's, RN's, FNP's, physicians, or licensed body workers. It is also strongly recommended that the student be an experienced yoga practitioner or teacher.

  ATTENTION NEW STUDENTS: If you are taking a YogaFit Teacher Training for the very first time, it is mandatory that you obtain a copy of Beth Shaw's, YogaFit (2nd Ed.), prior to the training. This text is a tremendous resource to have read prior to the first training taken with YogaFit and will give you a head start into the program.
